Front of House engineering
Mike creates consistent, musical mixes using DiGiCo Quantum Series consoles, Fourier Transform Engine, Bricasti reverbs and a selection of plugins from Waves, Universal Audio, and others.
His approach captures every element of the artists’ performance and delivers it to every seat in the house, night after night. With more than 30 years’ experience, he has mixed from clubs to stadiums worldwide.
Mike says: “I think consistency is one of the biggest factors. I’m not only trying to create powerful, dynamic mixes, which accurately represent the artist’s performance – I’m also trying to make sure it sounds the same in every seat, in every venue. I work very closely with Systems Engineers in designing, deploying and tuning the PA, usually d&b or L-Acoustics, to achieve the optimum results.”
Prepared before the first show
FOH work starts well before the first rehearsal. Mike prepares console files and liaises with the audio vendor so the artist can walk in and get straight to work. Read about system design and pre-production →
